Solid waste can be split into two categories: recoverable or not. The recoverable waste not only includes the well know types such as paper, cardboard, iron, aluminum, plastic, wood, glass, but other types too. In fact, many other types of waste can be recovered. For example neon tubes, equipment covered by the the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE), used tyres, rubber, rubble and different metals. Waste such as asbestos and paint, as well as countless others too, are only sent in part to landfills. Other cleaner ways to dispose of these such as by incinerators are often found.
